Choose between two of our guided routes to conquer Lion Rock:
The Long Morning Route:
Begin with a monkey encounter – descendants of macaques introduced in the 1910s. Enjoy the peaceful forest walk while urban vistas unfold of the Kowloon Peninsula, with glimpses of Stonecutters Island, the container harbour, gradually giving way to Nathan Road and the railway. On clear days, the iconic Hong Kong Island skyline emerges, along with the former Kai Tak Airport strip, now a cruise terminal. The challenging ascent up Lion Rock comes after the midway break, rewarding your efforts with a panoramic view of the city sprawling beneath your feet.
The descend leads to Sha Tin Pass and Wong Tai Sin district.
The Short Twilight Route:
This more direct path starts at Lion Rock’s base, offering a quick ascent to the summit, perfectly timed for the spectacular twilight hour. There might be a chance to spot wildlife like monkeys or wild boars along the way. Vantage points provide unparalleled views over the city below. The sky gradually turns from white-blue to yellow-orange while the sprawling city below gradually illuminates. Sit and enjoy the magic.
The descent then follows a different path, providing intermittent views of the now-sparkling urban landscape below. By the time you reach the subway station, night will have fully enveloped the city.
